5 Key Requirements When Selecting A Sleep Service

1. Is the service led by an accredited sleep physician?

2. Avoid services that have conflicts of interests (provide sleep studies and sell treatments such as CPAP)

3. Does your sleep physician have training in all aspects of sleep medicine?

4. Is the sleep service accredited by NATA or the Australasian Sleep Association?

5. Does your sleep physician have an association with a public hospital sleep service?

Warning: Not all sleep services are equal. Quality between services vary. Diagnosing and treating sleep conditions is complex and sleep physicians have many years of training. Avoid sleep services led by non-medical “sleep consultants” who may have only weeks of training.

DON’T BE JUST ANOTHER NUMBER – get the diagnosis and treatment right at the start and avoid unnecessary costs and distress.
